This traineeship offers you the opportunity to develop your career within the field of Corporate Banking, specifically Credit Risk, providing a solid knowledge foundation for any future banker. Here, you will be exposed to a wide range of risk areas also extending beyond Credit Risk. You will rotate within the following Credit Risk Decisioning teams:

  • Large Corporates, Leveraged Finance,
  • Financial Institutions
  • Global Transportation & Logistics, Energy & Project Finance
  • Real Estate.
  • SME and private banking

To complement your learning, you will also have the opportunity to rotate in other departments, such as the Credit Risk Oversight & Strategy, in the Business Lines where transactions are originated, and/or abroad. This will help you to build your network across key stakeholders with whom we work on a daily basis. Examples include departments such as Corporate Coverage, Corporate Lending, and Leveraged Finance.


Your job

The Credit Risk Decisioning Talent Programme starts in September 2022 and lasts 2 years. The traineeship kicks off with a general introduction day at head office, where you will meet your graduate group consisting of all new trainees across all Corporate Banking Talent Programmes (~20 in total). For the first 5 weeks, you will join your fellow graduates in completing a course at the prestigious Nyenrode Business University to learn banking fundamentals in fields such as Financial Markets, Banking Products, Financial Analysis, Modelling, Banking Regulation, Valuations and Credit Risk. ABN AMRO employees will also join to provide supplementary courses and ‘get to know you’ sessions.

Once you have completed the course, you will begin your first rotation within one of the Credit Risk Decisioning teams. You will join a new team every 4-5 months to support a steep learning curve. After these 2 years, your traineeship will conclude and you will be placed in one of the Credit Risk Decisioning teams to further develop your knowledge and specialise in a specific sector. We will provide you with all the training and coaching that you need in order to help you develop both professionally and personally.

Your profile

We are looking for top students who are in the final phase of their academic career. Are you a critical analyst and good with numbers? Do you have strong business and financial acumen, excellent social skills, and an eagerness to learn? Do you enjoy working in a team and able to work effectively alone? Then we are looking for you!

Application requirements:

  • University education with high grades (master’s degree or equivalent)
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication
  • A proven affinity with financial markets
  • A general interest in the capital markets, current social and economic developments, developments in specific market areas & sectors, sector data and/or competition
  • Passionate about working on exciting transactions for interesting clients and interested in the credit needs and creditworthiness of companies across a range of sectors.
