an entrepreneurial spirited professional to join the Global Lending Team within the ING Retail Banking segment.This STA will be a good opportunity to use your skills and interests in the global context of ING.

For consumer lending this means moving forward to digital & instant lending solutions with a personalised risk/reward strategy that matches the needs of our customers while contributes to the bank income generation.

The Global Lending Team is focused on responsibly growing ING’s global lending volumes by steering on local change roadmaps and performance for 11 countries: BENELUX, Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia, Turkey, Romania, Poland and Philippines.

The major priorities are:

Setting up instant lending onboarding strategy for existing and new-to-bank customers. Increasing the maturity of Risk/Reward pricing and policies. Optimization of funnel conversion. Defining global sustainable strategy for consumer lending business, while ensuring the launch of eco proposition in the countries. Exploring new sources of growth at Point of Sale.

Besides this, the team helps countries to identify growth opportunities and supports them in setting up pilots and tests. Off course the sharing of best practices across countries is key within this set-up.

Job description

Actively assist the Global Lending Team in the steering of the consumer lending business as per the team’s scope of responsibility (not an exhaustive list):

  • Central point of contact for knowledge sharing, best practices and content expertise
  • Contributing to and/or steering Global/Local projects that impact consumer lending
  • Cooperating with Risk Management to responsibly launch/enhance lending programs
  • Investigating market opportunities, partnerships and inorganic growth opportunities
  • Drive digitization of end-to-end loan processing
  • Quarterly deep financial reviews to identify trends and manage KPIs
  • Country lending roadmap review & monitoring
  • Budgeting and P&L management
  • Cooperate with other divisions within the central Retail Team on Retail strategy

General support for the Global Lending Team in the following capacities:

  • Data analysis
  • Preparation of presentations/materials for regular updates to senior management
  • Organizing monthly meetings with Global Retail Risk and associated materials
  • Organizing bi-monthly calls with Heads of Lending and associated materials
  • Ad hoc requests arising from day-to-day activities
  • Organizing workshops/forums for Heads of Lending 3 times a year

Contribute to the development of a comprehensive Consumer Lending Steering Report with all relevant data points and KPIs required to steer the business.

  • This initiative will require alignment with all other data gathering initiatives in the organization to ensure future compatibility of data feeds and to remove redundancy
  • Data collected will be the source for HO and local Dashboards, along with being the one true source for all consumer lending information requests in the organization (other than maybe high level or regulatory reporting)

Your work environment

You will be placed in the Global Lending Team in Amsterdam (physical allocation can be discussed as virtual STA could be an alternative) and receive an overall exposure to the Retail Consumer Lending organization across all business units as well as to multiple departments at the Head Office level and deep dive into the consumer lending business, end to end.

You will work very closely with the Global Lending Team and you will cooperate with other relevant HO departments and local business units to ensure realization of the objectives above.

Your profile

  • Retail unsecured lending experience would be a big plus (or any lending experience)
  • General knowledge of how a retail bank operates, retail products, methods of customer acquisition
  • General knowledge of Retail consumer lifecycle (i.e. what brings customers to a bank, what products they use, how they use them, what products they buy next and what service is expected)
  • Knowledge of how ING is organised

Skills required

  • Good Powerpoint and Excel skills
  • Able to structure presentations effectively to clearly express ideas
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to anticipate issues and flag them in a timely manner
  • Eager to engage, share ideas and openly discuss options/solutions in a group setting
  • Good interpersonal skills; outgoing
  • Task oriented and Entrepreneurial; able to self-manage
  • Flexibility to adjust to dynamic international work environment
  • Good English writing & communications skills; other foreign languages are an asset
  • Willing to travel (approx. 20 – 30%)
