The opportunity

Ongoing developments and intensifications in internal and external (legal and regulatory) requirements require Legal Department Bank to step-up its global potential in business support provided by Legal. To ensure that the Legal department fully optimizes its expertise and global potential, it is embarking on a transformation journey.

The ambition of the Legal Department Bank is to contribute to the long term success of the ING business. To ensure a safe and secure bank, Legal steers on pro-active and sustainable legal advice, aiming at mitigating future risks. The Legal function needs strong business alignment and efficient reporting lines to be promptly and adequately informed about issues, such as material incidents and relevant developments and thus able to think and act ahead.

To support these goals, Legal Department Bank has decided to further strengthen the functional steering and organise the Legal function in a different way.
