The opportunity

We are looking for a new colleague that can quickly take on responsibilities in an open and dynamic team

For many years, ING has been a lead bank in the global market for Project & Asset Based Finance (“ P&ABF ”), particularly in EMEA, by supporting its clients in complex and highly structured solutions for their financing needs. The deal spectrum of the P&ABF team is very wide and transactions vary from acquisition financings with Infra Equity firms to long term non-recourse project financings in several sectors and jurisdictions.

The candidate will be responsible for the origination, structuring, pricing and execution of deals in various sectors such as TMT&H, Infrastructure, Energy and Transportation. Furthermore, there is increasing involvement in debt advisory mandates. In conjunction with the Financial Markets Distribution Sales team, the candidate will be involved in the distribution of transactions to a wide array of banks and non-bank institutional investors.

The team in Europe consists of 6 colleagues based in Amsterdam. We work closely together in an open and collaborative atmosphere.

You will report to:

Gertjan van Toorn – Managing Director – EMEA Head of Leveraged Finance & Specialized Lending

The Role & Key Responsibilities:

As a Vice President / Director in the P&ABF Loan Capital Markets team you will be supporting the various Wholesale Banking Sector Coverage teams across EMEA with main responsibilities being:

Client and transaction origination:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with the relevant Sector Coverage Teams;

  • Together with the relevant sector team identify, develop and acquire relationships with clients of ING;

  • Originate, structure, price and negotiate syndicated loans. This would entail the production of or delivering input to marketing pitches relating to transaction opportunities, structuring transactions to win the mandate and negotiating terms and conditions;

  • Together with CS&A and the relevant sector team originate mandates for debt advisory roles and execute such mandates;

  • Together with the FM Distribution Sales team (“FMDS”), identify and maintain relationships with financial institutions including non-bank lenders.

Revenue generation:

  • Contribute to the team revenue target for the financial year and maximize the quality of those earnings.

Transaction execution and management:

  • Manage and assist in the execution and financial closing of syndicated transactions;

  • Prepare Syndication Advices for senior (credit and risk) management that opine on credit quality and the marketability of syndicated loans arranged and/or underwritten by ING;

  • Together with FM Distribution Sales, organize bank/investor meetings in order to generate demand for arranged and/or underwritten by ING.

Transaction team management:

  • Work closely together with the senior and junior (deal) team members and FMDS.

The profile of the colleague we are looking for:

Main requirements

  • You have (8-10 years) relevant experience with structuring complex and tailored (project) financings, preferably gained in a Sector Coverage Team or in a comparable Syndicated Finance function;

  • High quality standards and attention to detail;

  • Sociable, self-aware, ability to coach people effectively and be able to work under tight deadlines and significant pressure;

  • Confident, creative, convincing and well developed communication skills;

  • Eager to learn, curious, self-starting and with a “take it on and make it happen” mentality;

  • Fluency in verbal and written English;

  • Strong team player with a ‘can do’ attitude.
