IT Area Lead

We are looking for an inspiring IT Area Lead within the Corporate Services department of Group Services (GS)

With your solid technical understanding of CS and people leadership skills, you are overall responsible for the performance and development of the teams within your CS area. Setting the people development path within the teams to develop the required set of skills, you can also drive the transformation to a new way of working. With a proven track record of leading by example to support a successful transformation, you know how to motivate, teach, and enable your peers to follow your example, maintain and build on the changed way of working in the years to come.

The team

Group Services is made up of nine domains, including Corporate Services. Corporate Services aims to Support ING's employee and professional journey through Technology.

As the IT area lead you will responsible for several teams, with a wide diversity in capabilities.

Roles and responsibilities

  • IT Strategy: Jointly with the other IT Area Lead of Corporate Services, you support the IT Lead Corporate Services in preparing and executing the IT strategy. You propagate IT vision and strategy to your direct reports and business partners to align goals. You set priorities while balancing the needs of consumers and stakeholders;
  • Stimulates the ‘new’ culture: As an agile role model, you actively contribute to further developing the agile culture on agile mindset and –behaviour, IT expertise related skills, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Organizational Development and employability planning: As an Agile Manager, the IT Area Lead ensures that his/her managers act as Agile Managers and hire and retain great sociable A+ engineers. With these managers, he/she monitors and regularly discusses results, craftsmanship /skills development progress and Orange Code behaviour. Performs long term employability planning. Performs all other people management tasks, f.e. recruitment, technical talent management, et cetera.
  • You interact with many (senior) ING stakeholders on content and way of working at different maturity levels. Aligns with the other IT Area Leads and your 12 squads within Corporate Services. In close cooperation with the (Chief) Product Owner and the Tribe Lead/Asset Owner, decides on contracting change- and/or run work.
  • You are the IT Custodian of many global assets and bringing the (IT) portfolio to the next maturity level: more automation in a compliant and secure way, streamlined governance and communication, further professionalize decision-making and priority setting.

  • You have >5 year experience in portfolio management/Change management;
  • Can handle end to end complex IT situation and deal with various type of customers;
  • You are an engineer by education and or work experience;
  • You have a client-centric mindset and you can build meaningful relationships with your business partners;
  • Ability to steer and empower teams of skilled IT engineers responsible for high criticality applications.
  • Excellent strategic management/decision taking-skills;
  • Empowering people management style and passionate about growing and developing technical talent;
  • A mindset of openness and willingness to try new ways of working;
  • Predictable delivery of our software by squads in your area and live up to our promises with respect to quality, timelines and features;
  • Reliable, compliant and secure operation of IT assets in your area;
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
