The opportunity

HR Advisor Employee Participation

We are looking for an HR Consultant in our team HR Compliance, Legal & Industrial Relations. Within this strategic function you can use your expertise in industrial relations to make a tangible and visible impact in our organization. As a pivot between different parties you are responsible for optimizing the structure and environment for dialogue and optimal consultation between ING directors and Works Council Entities (OC, OR, COR, EOR) as well as ING directors and the trade unions.

Role and responsibilities

· You provide (legal) advice in the field of (among other things) the (European) Works Councils Act and provide timely signals whenever certain ideas from the business should be discussed with the employee representation bodies;

· You advise, coordinate and support the director(s) on the dialogue with the various internal participation bodies;

· You document and monitor any correspondence back and forth and monitor progress of action points;

· You advise managers and HR (Leads and HRBPs) in reorganization projects when it comes to consultation with participation bodies;

· You advise, support and coordinate with the director(s) on the consultation with external trade unions on the current collective agreement, the Social Plan, Pensions and other issues of common concern;

· Depending on the distribution of accounts, you yourself participate as secretary in negotiations concerning the Collective Labour Agreement and the Social Plan;

· You contribute to policy development and implementation on CLA/SP and other common issues in the field of industrial relations and working conditions;

· You function as a "liaison" in relation to ING’s contacts with Employee Participation Bodies and trade unions;

· You follow current developments in (international) participation and labor relations;

How to succeed

· Masters equivalent level of work experience and education;

· A proactive mindset and attitude, well organized, level headed with a birds eye view. You thrive by pursuing your goals and getting things done;

· You have a good sense of proportion, you are empathic and are experienced in stakeholder management;

· You are organizationally sensitive and meticulous and principled in handling confidential information and confidential conversations;

· You are Dutch-speaking with a good command of the English language, both in spoken and written;

· You are passionate about the strategic HR themes and can be considered a “thought leader” in the field of industrial relations;

· You are able to convey and secure your expertise, knowledge and advice with HR colleagues and business leaders;

· You are stress-resistant and well equipped to deal with any occasional pressure on a particular subject, which may cause a barrage of questions to be fired at you. At times consultation in the evenings will be necessary to "put out a fire" in order to move back to a harmonious and constructive phase of dialogue.

· You can identify problems/issues in the dialogue with the Employee Representation Bodies and trade unions at an early stage. You can identify important information, establish links between different pieces of information and consider possible actions.

Legal knowledge of the Law on Enterprise Councils is a plus, but more importantly we are looking for someone with extensive experience in stakeholder management, someone who is able to build a relationship of trust with the relevant parties. In this role you do not necessarily have an active negotiating position yourself, but you support the relevant ING director in the conversations and negotiations with the Employee Representation Bodies. Your role is not the spotlight but rather behind the curtains, guiding your Director, the participation process and ING. You work, as the saying goes, "like Haarlem oil", to ensure that obstacles and hurdles in the participation process are solved or removed in time. Behind the scenes, you confer, advise, make connections and tie up loose ends so that a topic or action point can be taken up again in the ongoing dialogue. You provide your Director with all necessary details by consulting with ING specialists. You are constantly navigating the HR organization for the right frameworks and conditions and try to connect those to the business goals of your Director.

What does this position offer you?

In this role you are always the first to know what is going on within one of the largest and leading companies within the Netherlands. You are directly involved in shaping innovative working conditions and managing the ongoing changes in the business and the banking sector. You are a first point of contact for high-ranking and influential managers and work with inspiring visionaries and powerful leaders. These directors rely on you in terms of participation processes, but you in turn can count on the support of the various HR experts who help you provide the right legal framework, processes, limits and capabilities. As a result, you are familiar with a wide range of HR knowledge and policies. Within this context you will be working in one large agile HR team of colleagues of every expertise with enthusiasm for the HR profession and a passion for collaboration. Our Works Councils and their members are currently showing a magnificent diversity in terms of nationality, background and culture, which will bring you challenging and exciting cultural differences that will challenge you as a person but will enrich you even more. You are also moving into an internationalized working environment because within the European Works Council you will become aware of cross-border differences in legislation and the organizations of the various ING entities. In short, a dynamic working environment with diverse, innovative content and people to learn from and be inspired by!
