At a glance

The ABN AMRO Clearing (AAC) Risk Management department ensures market surveillance and all market, credit and enterprise risks of AAC are managed in line with the regulations and risk appetite. The department creates a culture and framework of risk awareness in order to achieve a sustainable profitable growth building and keeping the trust and confidence of all stakeholders (clients, regulators, shareholders).

Your job

You will set and oversee the execution of the regional Market Surveillance strategy (Market Surveillance, AML- and Sanctioned Securites-monitoring and pre trade risk management) in order to identify and mitigate potential market abuse risks. You coordinate the overall European Risk office and thereby work in close cooperation with the regional CRO to ensure diligent execution of the regional risk activities across all risk disciplines.

Trading procedures
You set and improve the policies for monitoring and facilitating the trading processes used by AAC and its clients. Translate approved policies into specific procedures and guidelines, taking into account the regulations and policies of external regulators. Inform employees about changes and ensures the right use of procedures.
Information systems
You make agreements (within contracts) with vendors and AAC IT about the requirements and services of monitoring and trading systems, required for monitoring and facilitating trading processes. Cooperate with users, vendors and AAC IT to develop and improve the functionality and usability of the systems.
Compliancy advices
You analyse escalated signals of fraudulent activities or breaches in trading processes in order to find causes and to estimate the consequences. Inform Compliance and clients/relationship management about the circumstances and contrives solutions to mitigate consequences.
Regional risk office performances
You manage and control the results of the regional Risk Office activities, among others in regional project boards and risk committees. Initiates and proposes adjustments in objectives, plans and budgets. You do so in collaboration with your global peers in order to strive to global alignment.
Management Information
You provide consolidated reports about performed risk analyses for management, clients and regulators. Expound identified risks and the mitigating measures that followed. Provide complete insight in the monitored trading activities and potential risks.

Working environment

ABN AMRO Clearing is designated as a specialized business within ABN AMRO and holds its own banking license (ABN AMRO Clearing Bank NV). Globally the company consists of about 800 FTE and is largely self-sufficient, organizing its own supporting organization. ABN AMRO
Clearing plays an important infrastructural role in the financial markets. As such it is closely monitored by Regulators and Central Banks. This is augmented by the fact that ABN AMRO Clearing holds significant market shares in financial markets across the globe holding.
Top spots in clearing on numerous exchanges in every region. According the AAB 3 Lines of Defence model, AAC Risk constitutes the 2nd Line of Defence for IT & Operational Risk. ABN AMRO Clearing I&ORM has a global focus and substituted by a regional present in the regions Europe (Amsterdam, London), USA (Chicago) and Asia-Pacific (Sydney, Singapore)

Your profile

We ask:

  • 9-10 years relevant working experience.
  • Ability to structure, coordinate, and implement regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to structure, coordinate and motivate a team.
  • Knowledge of financial risk management at a master’s level.
  • Knowledge of market surveillance, Compliance, AML regulation and pre trade risk management.
  • Knowledge of clearing, custody and the regional AAC products, services and regulations.
  • A pragmatic and hands on work mentality.
  • You preferably live in the Netherlands (EU).
