ING Domestic Bank Netherlands is looking for a Domain Architect.

The Domain Architect defines the overall Architecture within the Domain and demarcation between the building blocks. The domain architect strives for a loosely coupled and scalable architecture, that is adaptive to change in an Agile Scrum context with sufficient decouple points. Moreover, the architect is describing an architecture and implementation roadmap for the upcoming quarters that is feasible to implement, but ambitious enough to move towards our strategic target architecture. Non-functional requirements (e.g. security and resilience) are taken into account.

Domain Architects are expected to collaborate with their business colleagues, Enterprise Architects, Feature Engineers, IT managers and Dev/Ops teams to shape an organization that is less complex, more agile and effective and more decisive and therefore achieves its Continuous Delivery goals.

This is what you’ll be doing

You take responsibility to define and maintain the end-to-end architecture design for a domain, perform architecture design for epics and features of the domain, with attention to non-functional requirements, optimal integration with other domains and platforms and a good balance between cost and quality, and to advise on implementation planning and provide guidance to feature engineers and engineers on execution according to architectural design.

In addition to the domain responsibility, you also contribute to the continuous improvement of your department so we get better every day than the day before.

Who are you?

  • You have basic knowledge and understanding of content and architecture of multiple domains (technologies, applications, business processes). You define and align (global) architecture standards.
  • You work independently and act as a self-starter toperforms architecture activities for incremental changes (the design, advise and presentation of (target) architectures and roadmaps, and the architecture guidance and validations). At the same time, you avoid silos’ thinking by proactively seek collaboration with others to co-create. Therefore, you have co-creation skills (workshops, guiding, constraining, selling, telling) and you have the level of architecture expertise to coach and mentor other architects.
  • You take decisions on the basis of limited information and use indirect influence. You have a long-term perseverance, without becoming dogmatic or rigid.
  • Manages stakeholders up to senior management level within a domain for the scope of multiple tribes or programs.
  • Master level or equivalent by experience and good written and spoken knowledge of English;
  • You use pattern recognition to assess what to do and rules to determine how to do it. You make complex analyses and connections between current events and the corporate strategy or the longer term vision.
  • You anticipate Risk, Security & Reliability requirements for your domain and you coordinate the embedding of mitigations in the architecture designs and principles for your scope.
  • Having experience with the principles of agile development is highly preferred.
  • You have the ability to travel.
