The opportunity

ING’s Legal Financial Markets in Amsterdam is seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious, diligent and pragmatic lawyer to join its Legal Derivatives team. Based in the Amsterdam office and reporting to the Head of Legal Derivatives, you will support ING’s derivatives business globally.

The team and your role

You will become part of a highly skilled and supportive Legal Derivatives team of approximately 10 lawyers while enjoying a varied and extensive breadth of work. The team advises on, drafts and negotiates OTC derivatives documentation for vanilla and bespoke transactions (e.g. the ISDA Master Agreement and the related Credit Support Annex), provide legal support on financial markets’ products and services, and guides the derivatives business through regulatory changes, such as EMIR and BMR. You will work in close proximity with the business.

  • You have affinity with financial services and securities laws and preferably understanding of derivatives’ products and documentation;

  • At least 3 years working experience with a law firm, regulatory authority, financial institution or corporate;

  • Experience with negotiating OTC derivatives documentation is key and knowledge of LMA documentation would be an advantage;

  • You have the ability to interpret complex rules and regulations (e.g. EMIR and BMR) and to produce clear and practical guidance and advice;

  • You have solid interpersonal skills which enable you to work collaboratively with colleagues and be responsive and pro-active in working with the business;

  • Last but not least, you are an energetic team player with a positive and can do mentality who is not afraid to take responsibility; and

  • You have a Master’s degree in Law from a reputable university.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Other language skills would be a plus.
