We are looking to strengthen the Asset and Liability Management department with an enthusiastic person, who is highly motivated to join the ALM Data team .

ING is building one global standard for Interest Rate Risk and Forecasting in the banking books. Regulations and internal risk management insights require us to constantly enhance our ALM capabilities.

Within our team we aim to develop new functionality and methodologies for risk management and finance departments in one target engine platform (QRM) and the inhouse data platform (SPA).

The Team

The ALM project team (± 80 people) is divided into smaller squads. You will be working as a Business Analyst in the ALM Data team. This team is responsible for the Extraction, Transformation and Load (ETL) of finance data flows into the current ALM engine of ING; which is called the Quantitative Risk Management (QRM)–tool . Furthermore, the team is responsible for the ALM Result Area (ARA) which contains the all the calculated ALM results.

Development of this ALM platform has been prioritized as one of ING’s most important strategic worldwide objectives. Currently, the ALM platform is being transformed into a group-wide standard to support global and local requirements, and step by step new countries are on-boarded.

The mission

Our objective is to roll-out the “ ING ALM standard ” configuration for to all locations ING operates in, such that it enables us to report and calculate the core Risk figures (NII- and NPV-@risk). When joining the team, you will work on the implementation of new ALM data functionalities as well as assisting the team with country support. This means you are working closely together with stakeholders like Modeling, IT TECH, Data Foundation, ALM Project teams, (foreign) Market Risk management, Finance and Global Treasury.

Job description

In the role of ALM Data expert you will be acquired to quickly understand complex data and ETL processes. You are familiar with ALM data & business requirements and the way to handle these with Microsoft SQL, Access, Phyton, Excel and Power BI. You like to build new functionality to process and handle big data streams. The ALM data is mainly used for Net Interest Income (NII) forecasting, valuation and replication (i.e. hedging). You will be working on both the business and IT side of the ALM processes and must be able to translate functional requirements form business analyst into technical solutions.

Tasks

  • Improve and simplify data loads and ETL processes, despite of differences and variety in country data

  • Change data flows, tables, and interfaces, make existing data flows more transparent. Work towards a simple and robust solution with functionality to identify and analyse unexpected differences in data in an early stage

  • Help setup a new reporting solution out of new Result Area with Power BI.

  • Implement processes to cope with additional source systems

  • Improve maintainability and performance of the Data Staging Area

  • Understand how monthly financial data and financial products are processed

  • Explain and present complex subjects to the management board

  • Be sparring partner in sub-projects and give advice about the data to be processed to architects and other developers

  • Master’s degree in: Econometrics, Mathematics, Economics or similar quantitative study;

  • Experience with MS SQL Server and ETL processes (development or configuration);

  • Recent experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders, ideally in a banking or financial environment;

  • You are pro-active, flexible and eager to learn;

  • You enjoy working in an international team and environment;

  • Very strong analytical skills;

  • Good communication skills (in English).
