Do you thrive in bringing to life engaging services that will surprise our customers in the years to come? Do you have experience in Retail and Digital banking, are familiar with wealth management and passionate about customer engagement? Are you up for the challenge to drive an initiative through our innovation framework?

Who we are

We’re always looking for new ways to do things faster, better, cheaper. To move out of our comfort zone, even beyond banking, so that we can better serve the needs of customers with solutions that address their challenges.

Empowering people to stay a step ahead in life and business is ING’s purpose and the main driver for ING Labs. We focus on increasing the pace of innovation to serve changing customer needs. The Labs focus on thinking beyond traditional banking to develop new services to take to market.

We will support you in building your initiative by pitching for funding to ING’s Innovation Fund. We tackle the complex and messy process of building solutions by breaking them down into different phases with key validation points. For this we use ING’s innovation methodology, PACE , which builds on Lean Startup, Design Thinking, and Agile. Progress is assessed by the Innovation Fund and you pitch for your proposed next steps to be funded.

You will be working in the ING Labs Amsterdam office and/ or remotely in a very international and dynamic environment.

What you will be working on

ING currently serves investment customers through both digital and human channels, with a strong Private Banking presence. We see an opportunity to serve Affluent customers better in a more digital and scalable way.

This initiative will focus on serving the Affluent customer segment by providing an engagement solution to support them in their investment journey. A potential solution would target customers in the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as in countries like Australia, Germany and Spain.

As a Corporate Venture Builder within ING, you will work closely with your counterpart in Amsterdam to understand the target customer needs, validate the problem and create a compelling value proposition with the aim of building an ING solution for this market.

Success in this role would be measured by leading this initiative from the current "lean startup" mode to a key revenue-generating business for ING over the coming years.

Role & responsibilities

  • Develop an initial monetization strategy.
  • Challenge the data and the team systematically and gather evidence for every assumption.
  • If successful with the stage gates, you will be required in Product Customer fit phase to develop a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) with key features and execute a pilot to prove its value with your target customer.
  • Present your progress at each stage and pitch for funding to the Innovation Fund.

About you

  • You have a successful track record in strategic business development within retail banking, digital banking, private banking, wealth management or portfolio management.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of digital customer engagement solutions within banking.

What we offer you

  • An initial 3-6 months assignment based on 36h or 40h /week. The assignment’s renewal is dependent on the stage gate success and will be decided after this initial period.

  • Access to key skills and knowledge about products, methods and regulations.
  • Fast paced, diverse & exciting work on growing emerging technologies.
