Capital Structuring & Advisory (CS&A) EMEA sector lead

ING Wholesale Banking is looking for a CS&A EMEA sector lead (director, potentially MD level) for its Capital Structuring & Advisory team in Amsterdam. Due to a sector portfolio reshuffle within the team, there’s a vacancy. You will work with clients in the T&L and Automotive, Construction, Manufacturing & Heavy Industries, Retail & FMCG, Retail & Services sectors.

Ideally the candidate has a strong background in one or more of these sectors, but also candidates with experience in another sector are encouraged to apply.

In this job you will play an active role in the structuring and execution of transformational, often complex financings (loans, bonds, equity, debt advisory, working capital solutions) and associated hedging transactions for corporates within the these sectors, mostly across Europe, but you will also be the linking pin into CS&A locations in the Americas and Asia. You will also closely work together with Sustainable Finance and Sustainable Markets (e.g. Green/ESG bonds), Sector Coverage and Products teams on supporting our clients with financing and advisory solutions to improve their ESG footprint (e.g. decarbonization).

It is CS&A’s mission to provide clear value and complement the strengths of various Sector Coverage teams, and Products (Lending, Financial Markets, M&A, ECM, DCM, Corporate Investments, Transaction Services) by providing integrated solutions, including credit ratings advisory, and various types of analysis (e.g. debt capacity, liquidity, peer analysis, etc.) to engage with clients in a consultative and product-neutral way.

CS&A is typically involved in event-driven transactions, but also in the earlier stage, by spotting new opportunities (financing, hedging, working capital, sustainability, innovation) and anticipating future event-driven transactions.

Job description

• Jointly work with colleagues within Sector Coverage and Products on the marketing/co-origination and execution of a wide range of financing, advisory and hedging solutions;
• Coordinating the preparation of presentations/pitch books regarding integrated debt (bonds, loans), (quasi) equity and hedging solutions;
• Frequent client contact, mostly in the marketing and structuring phases of transactions;
• Overseeing complex financial models and quality stamping/ assuming responsibility for different output generated by junior staff (i.e. presentations, financial analysis and peer analyses);
• Active participation in the commercial Green Light Committee;
• Share best practices (transactions, ideas, themes, etc.) across the global (CS&A) platform.

Your work environment

CS&A consists of teams in Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Madrid, New York, Paris, Singapore, with a Ratings Advisory unit in London. The teams are involved in high profile transactions with significant internal and public (press) exposure. CS&A acts product neutral, together with the relationship banker and various Product specialists.

Your profile

• At least 10 years of work experience in a transaction driven environment;
• Education:university degree, fluent in English;
• You have a profound understanding of a wholesale banking organization, have and in-depth knowledge of one (or preferably) more of the following products, i.e. (Structured) Lending, Debt and Equity Capital Markets, Financial Markets, M&A, debt advisory, Corporate Investments;
• You understand what is needed in the role: you have a proven track record in structuring, negotiating and execution of transformational and/or complex (international) transactions and/or optimizing balance sheet and financing structures as well as providing strategic advice to clients. Strong credit skills are a must;
• You are a true team player, who knows that combining the strengths from the various business lines will improve the client offering;
• Strong business development skills with broad market knowledge, client network and presence;
