T&R KYC SPOC (Single Point of Contact)

ING Wholesale Bank NL - Sector Commodities, Food & Agri NL (CF&A NL)

The team

CF&A is one of 7 Wholesale bank Sectors and services a range of international commodity, food and agricultural clients. The client portfolio is diverse ranging from Dutch food companies to Asian commodity traders.

CF&A’s front office team is multinational, collaborative and professional with a good drive to ‘make it happen’. Know-Your-Customer (KYC) is an important, mandatory part of each client relationship, in CF&A NL a process led by the Parent Account Managers (PAM’s), supported by 6 Transaction & Regulatory (T&R) experts and 1 KYC Spoc.

Roles and responsibilities

As KYC Spoc you support and coordinate KYC workstreams in broadest sense, for and in cooperation with (assistant) Parent Account Managers.

KYC is a team effort, everyone has to contribute, but the specific value of the KYC Spoc within front office lies in being fully dedicated to the KYC domain, thereby building knowledge and expertise that allows for strong support close to the business.

Tasks

Planning and tracking

  • Participate in Spoc Calls with KYC FO Lead, Spoc’s from other Sectors, KYC Team Leads and MLRO to discuss KYC review planning and progress on file level and make sure monthly deadlines are met
  • For bigger reviews organize kick off and progress calls with PAM and KYC Analysts to stay aligned
  • Communicate progress to CF&A NL colleagues in team meetings and/or update mails

Client Outreach

  • Monitor that this process of obtaining client info runs, chasers are sent timely and requirements themselves are (generally) ok

Stakeholder management

  • Keep short and open communication lines with relevant parties in the KYC process
  • As Spoc a key role is bridging the gap between the different actors in the process, Front Office, KYC Team and Compliance.

Advice

  • Act as point of contact for KYC questions from CF&A NL colleagues, for example on policy, client requirements, file status, contact persons, or Compliance waivers

Admin

  • Route Onboardings, Offboardings and Event Driven Reviews to the appropriate department with correct admin formalities

Offboarding

  • Coordinate and assist with product closure for commercially inactive clients and attend Offboarding calls to discuss progress

Other

  • Signal obstacles, inefficiencies and data quality issues in the KYC process, notify relevant process or product owners
  • When time allows, process (FO part of) KYC files yourself to stay connected to the actual work and policies, which provides a better basis when others ask for advice and allows to signal bottlenecks
  • Any other activity you think adds value to improve KYC within CF&A NL

  • Past (ING) KYC experience is a preference as this helps with validating KYC requirements (skipping needless or incorrect items) thereby streamlining and accelerating the process
  • Accurate and affinity with data, ability to spot discrepancies in big lists
  • Preferably proficient with Excel, ability to visualize data in relevant, focused graphs
  • Ability to maintain constructive working relationships with other parties in the KYC process. Push where needed in order to meet short term deadlines without damaging the relations for the long run
  • Ability to work under pressure. CF&A’s working atmosphere is very positive and motivating but there are times, especially when file deadlines approach, that pressure presents itself, so a certain level of resilience will be beneficial
  • Keen drive to ‘make it happen’. Willingness and curiosity to learn.
