ING Labs is looking for a Chapter Lead Design to manage a talented team of Designers in ING Labs

ING Labs is a core component of ING Neo (the dedicated Innovation Business area of ING). ING Labs consist of Venture Building labs in Amsterdam and Singapore and Accelerators in London and Brussels. Since the emergence of ING Neo, the corporate venture building program is constantly being developed. You will play a key role in this development. You will be working in the ING Labs Amsterdam office and/ or remotely in a very international and dynamic environment.

Your role

You will be part of Design Operation Team and you will manage a team of Service Designer, UX Designers and interaction designers. You will be responsible for team management activities, strategic improvement of the design expertise and operation and you will also practice your craft in one of our Innovation initiatives. Design team serves ING Labs initiative, providing key expertise in Service Design, UX Design and Interaction Design in different phases of ING Labs journey.

As a Chapter Lead UX Design you will:

  • Lead a chapter, set the standards for the chapter area and take responsibility for developing, innovating and safeguarding knowledge in the field of expertise, which includes service design, interaction design, visual design, or user research;

  • Define Design operations and way of working with Coaches, Initiatives, supporting functions and other ING Labs stakeholders

  • Make sure you have always the right talent mix (internal/external, junior/Senior) for ING Labs Initiatives

  • Coach, guide, improve and assess individual designers;

  • Join a customer-facing innovation initiative and help to refine the CX strategy

  • Motivate and support the growth of all members of a small-sized team using equitable approaches to performance management and development that may be differentiated to support each employee's unique needs and preferences in order to bring out their best and meet business needs;

  • Manage relations with external agencies to make sure we always have at arm’s reach a network of talent for ad hoc needs.

  • Advocate and create a “Design mindset” within the team and organization

  • Bridge the gap with other ING CoE Design to leverage synergies between designs chapters in ING

What you bring to the team

  • University or higher vocational degree; preferably in a design related field or subject or proven strong affinity with design;

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a digital design, preferably with Service Design and UX experience.

  • know what a proper design process looks like and can adjust applied methods and techniques to the client’s setting, maturity level, and goals

  • Proven experience in people management;

  • is multi-talented, with additional skills in visual design, copywriting, data analysis, a/b testing, optimization, front-end, illustrations, typography or other relevant skills (surprise us!)

  • Written and spoken fluency in English.
