At a glance

Are you eager to unlock the power of data by using all forms of technology? Do you want to be part of the digital revolution in the banking industry? Do you have a strong understanding of data and can we agree that data is at the core of creating value for customers? And does solving complex data related cases make you happy? Then the Chief Architect and Data Management - Data Engineering department is the place for you!

Your job

To speed up and strengthen our digital transformation, we are searching for the best development engineers to join us. With joining us we mean that you help us:

  • Modelling complex new data-models
  • Designing, implementing and maintaining data pipelines
  • Developing with python, open source and Azure native tooling
  • Innovate, experiment and help with setting up new technologies and structure and organize our code in a way that makes it sustainable and easy to change

As a Data Engineer you will be part of an Analytics Engineering team, a cross-functional DevOps team that is responsible to support a specific solution by creating relevant and meaningful datasets that are used for a large variety of use cases, such as personalized messaging, detecting fraud and financial crime or to improve the efficiency of our operational processes. Here, you will work with the latest technology and tools to build your data products. The atmosphere in the team is informal, and we’re ok with making ‘mistakes’ as long as everyone is open about it and learns from it.

We all work together at the frontier of a major digital revolution and with the core value-assets (data!) of the organization. The domain data teams are therefore in constant collaboration with business users, data providers, platform teams and many other teams to improve the delivery of their products.

Working environment

With a combination of software & tools straight from the market leaders, and self-build top-of-the-line tooling, Data Engineering is the data heart of ABN AMRO. We focus on:

  • Helping all other parts of the bank to remain in control of their data
  • Turn data into value
  • Take data driven decisions by means of all power data has to offer
  • The possibilities are vast. Building software is great, but creating value out of 7 petabytes of data is better! While this means we value our top-notch quality standard, you'll be surprised by the informal atmosphere in which we do this.

“Being a part of Data Engineering at ABN AMRO is as interesting as investigating new trails in the jungle. Daily challenges, experiments with new technologies and growth opportunities make me a contributor of organizational values for a better customer satisfaction.” - Elena Vilkova, Data Engineer.
