Financial Risk Officer

ING is looking for a Financial Risk Officer within the FIFM Risk / ALM Risk team in Continental Europe (CE).

Your work environment

Financial Risk Trading Risk Management (FR TRM) is part of the CRO domain. FR TRM is a global team of approx. 230 people supporting a wide area of businesses within Financial Markets and Group Treasury, as well as other Wholesale Banking activities. The FR TRM team is responsible for the market, funding and liquidity risk and product control function.

The banking environment is continuously changing mainly driven by new regulations and ad hoc regulatory requests. In order to comply with the new regulations many projects have been initiated which are still in progress and many new projects will be initiated. The team works in an agile way of working and has a strong focus on team work and collaboration. Our stakeholders include risk managers globally, front office, finance, IT and senior management. We work in a dynamic environment, weighing the needs, dependencies, bottlenecks and urgencies and setting priorities accordingly.

Job description

The Financial Risk Officer will contribute to the responsibilities and tasks of and the services provided by the Asset and Liability Management (ALM) Risk team covering Continental Europe. Within that scope the ALM Risk CE team is responsible for:

  • Monitoring and managing the financial risks in the Banking books of Wholesale Banking in Amsterdam and the Wholesale Banking Network (WBN) locations within CE (including the risk management and product control of the Group Treasury books in WBN)
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies and procedures, among others, Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Books (IRRBB), Funding & Liquidity risk and IBOR transitions.
  • Supporting the model life cycle planning for the WB Lending portfolios in Amsterdam.
  • Supporting the roll-out and implementation of multiple initiatives such as QRM, GBS decommissioning, LCR/LST tooling
  • Providing input and deliverables to Financial Risk such as PDCE, Asset & Liability reviews, Risk Identification & Self Assessment, other periodic reviews and liquidity stress test analysis
  • Functioning as first point of contact for the Continental Europe region. Providing support to the local market risk management and product control (MRM&PC) teams where necessary and closely cooperate with Financial Risk in Amsterdam.
  • Standardising processes and ensuring (technical model) documentation is in place in line with the target operating model
  • Taking care of ad hoc requests

Who we are looking for

You are ambitious. You are enthusiastic, pro-active and eager to help your team and others to be successful. You have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing. You are familiar with financial markets and financial instruments. Experience with ALM Risk is a plus.

You are able to deal with cultural differences, conflicting interests and unforeseen challenges. You constructively cooperate with other Risk teams worldwide and other departments within ING.

Your profile

  • A university degree in economics, econometrics or other finance/quantitative subjects
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in market risk
  • Good communication skills, able to manage different stakeholders (e.g. Front Office, Financial Risk, Finance, Senior Management)
  • Result driven, flexible and able to adjust quickly to new circumstances
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Fluent in English
