The team

The Communications & Brand Experience Centre of Expertise (CoE) is one of the crossborder CoEs of the ING organisation and part of the delivery organisation of ING Netherlands and Belgium. The CoE has three Area Leads (Internal & External Communications; Branding, Advertising and Sponsoring; Media Relations & Stakeholder


The Data Analyst Communication will report to the Expert Lead Media, Planning & Research.

The purpose of the Media Planning & Research team is to create a communication planning/calendar which is based on analysis, research and continuous feedback loops on

effectiveness and performance. Examples are campaign planning, marketing research and effectiveness, brand/sponsoring research and collecting relationship marketing data.

This is in line with the goal of the CoE Communications and Brand Experience to create an integrated brand and communications approach. The team collaborates closely

with the Advertising, Brand Experience, Sponsoring & Events and Content and Media Relations expertise teams within the CoE. The team also partners with

the business Tribes to deliver and execute a brand and business roadmap to support ING’s ambition to become the best mobile led digital bank in our market.

The opportunity

The Data Analyst Communication builds the infrastructure and reporting to unlock a more data centric approach to decision making. The Data Analyst Communication owns

the analysis and KPI tracking process that increases the measurability of our integrated campaigns and events. In order to build brand and business and push marketing effectiveness

forward. Furthermore the Data Analyst Communication will lead in setting up, running and analyzing a broad variety of communication and Brand Experience experiments in

our CoE to support ING’s ambition to become the best mobile led digital bank. As such this role requires not only the prerequisite technical skillset but also a strong understanding of

how (digital) marketing works in practice as well as a good know-how of Ad-Tech and Martech landscape.

Role and responsibilities

Following the role description, the key responsibilities include:

• Implementing the data analysis and reporting role in the CoE

• Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes

• Analyze multiple processes and data sources to discover hidden relationships and patterns

• Generate insights and learnings from our existing data sources through linking, merging, and fusing data sets

• Explore next steps towards Marketing Mix Modelling, including implementation of outcomes of modelling

• Translate strategic audiences into customer segments which can be activated across (digital) media channels and/or platforms

• Present insights into concise dashboards including visualization techniques

• Collaborate with colleagues in the CoE, Digital Sales teams, e-commerce specialists and our Market Research Specialist on key projects

• Support and build an experimentation agenda that can improve our digital maturity and drive effectiveness and efficiency of our integrated communication and Brand


How to succeed

An energetic and collaborative expert, displaying the following skills and behaviour:

• 2+ years in marketing data modelling, analysis, visualization, tracking requirements, and best practices. Experience in an E-commerce or performance marketing environment is a plus

• Bachelor or master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or any related field of study.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• The ability to (independently) perform queries and experience with statistical/data analysis tools and software

• An experiment mindset and experience with running/analyzing multiple experiments

• An understanding of core statistical concepts and the ability to communicate and even teach these to non-experts.

• You are curious by nature, challenge assumptions, and make sure you understand the real business challenge before jumping into solutions

• You have a can-do mindset, take ownership and responsibilities and enjoy working with a diverse team of people.  

• Excellent communication skills and able to present complicated concepts to stakeholders in a synthetic way.

• Self-motivated and comfortable operating in a rapidly changing environment.

• You are hands on and like to learn more about the business side

• Able to work both independently and as a part of a team.

• Excellent proficiency of Dutch and English language, in speech and writing
