Do you appreciate the importance of reliable data? Are you, like us, keen to bring risk data management to a structurally higher level? And have you got good ideas about how this should be done? If so, then the role of Risk Data management & governance advisor is an interesting position for you!

In this role you can develop yourself professionally and personally. Tell us your story. We are curious!

Your job

As a Risk data management & governance advisor you translate and embed the enterprise-wide data management capabilities from the ABN AMRO data management framework in Risk Management and advise, control and support your key stakeholders with performing data management activities.

You help Risk Management improve the quality of the data that they use to inform, report and manage on. And you will help us bring the risk data management governance processes to a structurally higher qualitative level. Close collaboration and pro-activeness in an Agile working environment is the key to success. The attention of our supervisors for Risk Management, Data Management and the underlying data itself underwrites the relevance and importance of this position.

BCBS239 will be one of your main focus areas. You will be in close contact with the different risk type owners and facilitate them in their road towards BCBS 239 compliance. You will provide guidance and support, but also challenge where needed. You will be the go-to person for BCBS239 related topics, for instance the identification of critical data elements, setting data quality requirements and capturing data lineage. You will also monitor the progress and report to senior management.

Working environment

The Risk Data & Modelling grid is part of Risk Data & Analytics (RDA) and plays an active role for all the Risk departments. We employ 100+ staff, all of whom share a passion for getting the most out of risk data. Our aim is to generate reliable risk data in good time. We do this by improving the risk data itself, data systems and data processes.

You will work in the Data Compliance and Strategy cluster, as part of the BCBS239 team. The cluster consists of professionals with different backgrounds who are driven to bring risk data management to structurally higher level. The atmosphere is open and informal. We work hard, but there is plenty of room for enjoyment!

Your profile

You are energetic, with a passion for combining thinking and doing. You have a handle on what’s going on in the organisation as well as in the banking industry and regulatory landscape. You take responsibility and encourage others to do the same. As well as having a strong drive to maintain your own expertise, you are keen to actively contribute to further developing and improving the area you work in. You are data driven and analytical, embrace the Agile way of working and have very strong stakeholder management and communication (verbally and in writing) skills. You are teamwork, innovation- and goal oriented.

If this sounds like you, check to see if your profile matches the following:
• You have successfully completed a higher professional education (HBO) or degree (WO)
• You have experience with the implementation of BCBS239
• You have consultancy and project management skills
• You have knowledge of and experience in Risk Management in Banking (minimum 5 years), and demonstrable affinity with data management

Our offer

You will be given sufficient scope to create value using your data management & governance experience. There will be various growth opportunities in your area of expertise and also beyond, depending on your goals, interests and experience.

We also offer:
• The ability to work flexible hours
• A supplementary benefit budget of 11% with which you can buy flexible fringe benefits such as extra days off, a subsidy to cover the costs of a phone or an (electric) bicycle, and salary top-ups
• a personal development budget of € 1,000 per year with an option to save up to € 3,000
• an annual public transport season ticket
• a good salary and pension scheme

At ABN AMRO, we put our knowledge, expertise and network at the disposal of our customers to help them reach their goals through responsible decisions, both in the Netherlands and beyond. Our number one priority is always to put customers’ interests first. We want our customers to understand our products and sometimes won’t offer them if we think a particular product may be too risky for a customer. Putting the customer first also means communicating clearly and coming up with smart solutions that really make the difference. That is our aim.
