The opportunity

The role is within the Innovation Portfolio & Performance Management team of ING Neo. As an innovation consultant in this team, You will help establish and grow our innovation machine by consulting the leadership about trends in our portfolio as well as showcase opportunities.

Roles and responsibilities

As an Innovation Consultant you work together with different teams covering the full range of innovation activities in ING Neo from inhouse initiatives in ING Labs, Partnership consultants of the Fintech team and Investment managers of ING Ventures. Additionally, the Portfolio and Performance team takes on the role as Innovation Fund secretary.

As Portfolio & Performance Management consultant for ING Neo you will:

  • Perform data-driven analysis across the full spectrum of our portfolio to find early indicators of success to ensure our activities are aligned with our strategy

  • As a gate-keeper for the Innovation Fund budget you perform monthly forecast and keep track of the innovation’s teams run-rate spend

  • Track and analyse outside trends that relate to innovation accounting and present updates to internal stakeholders;

  • Build/improve analytical tools to throw light on our portfolio from various perspectives

  • Deliver robust and reliable reporting for senior management stakeholders (C-level) and thoroughly analyse key performance indicators

  • Establish and manage an internal network of stakeholders that help to accelerate portfolio management as we are dependent on their collaboration

  • Liaise with key stakeholders such as Value Space Leads, Scale-up Leads or Lab Leads to challenge and consult them on their business development plans

  • Take on a driving role in the facilitation of ING Neo’s quarterly business review that include both execution and support teams

  • Be part of project base activities in elaborating frameworks for capturing the value that innovation brings to ING or measuring the portfolio maturity of business units

  • Energetic, curious and eager to learn quickly, have a can-do mentality

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and conceptual thinking skills,

  • Excellent knowledge about data visualization tools (PowerBI and Service Now experience would be a plus)

  • Experience with Excel to an advance level

  • Be comfortable with some degree of uncertainty, as innovation filed is

  • Eagerness to understand new business models and how they fit in ING innovation strategy

  • Ample experience with preparing board-level presentations and discussion materials;

  • Strong communication/ interpersonal skills and experience to align with multiple stakeholders

  • Preferably have a background in Data Science or Strategic consultancy

  • Excellent academic track record (Master's/Bachelor's degree eg in Business/Technology) and at least 3 years of relevant work experience.

  • Outstanding Orange Code behaviors are key to success in this role (“Helping others to be successful - Always think a step ahead - Take it on and make it happen”)

  • Highly fluent in English.
