The opportunity

Within the Human Resources organization, the role of a team member in the Communities of Expertise (CoEs) is to enable the delivery of the People Vision through closely collaborating and working with the HR Business Partners and People Services. The purpose of the CoE role is to design and improve people processes in the areas of Performance and Rewards, Talent and Learning, and People Analytics. In essence, responsible for ensuring ING has access to the best new and existing HR tools, processes and initiatives.


An opportunity has arisen in our Market Leaders Performance & Reward CoE team (five team members) who are based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The team focuses on four different business line areas – Challengers and Growth Markets, Market Leaders (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg), Wholesale Banking and our Corporate Staff Departments. In this role, you will create, implement and communicate change initiatives which are in the field of pensions and collective insurances with a clear focus & priority on driving the upcoming NL pension reform within ING.

The role hierarchically reports to the Head of Reward and Pensions NL.

Key Responsibilities

You bring deep expertise in pensions and collective insurances to the HR function and drive change through the organization, as you will create and implement new people solutions (e.g. the upcoming NL pension reform) that meet business needs and enable the business to realize its strategy. You will strive for sustainable & consistent solutions which are driving the impact for ING.

You will ensure that HR and the business have access to best-in-class pension propositions and that pension operational management is well positioned within ING. Key activities include, amongst others:

  • Drive the upcoming NL pension reform within ING
  • Deliver on the change agenda of pensions
  • Pension case management based on current and heritage pension plan
  • Operational management on collective insurances (e.g. accident insurance / WIA)
  • Operational management on pensions and collaborating with pension funds on data quality
  • Driving budget coordination on pensions and collective insurances
  • Actuary calculations
  • Design and implement new benefits which are aligned with the global strategy
  • Be an expert on pension matters and collaborate with our HR Business Partners
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the organization in own area of expertise

  • 5-10 years recognized expertise in Pension area (e.g.: actuary, driving pension change)
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, excellent business written and orally communication skills in order to bring a compelling story and engage stakeholders on new or existing people solutions
  • Background in the field of pensions and/or actuarial knowledge
  • Strong affinity with numbers and data and a good understanding on how data analysis and reporting support building better people solutions
  • Project and/or program management skills that drive sustainable impact in the field of pensions
  • Strong relationship skills; ability to build connections with stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds, geographies and at varying levels of seniority
  • Practical experience of building strong relationships with third party vendors in area of expertise
  • Highly organized and able to manage tight deadlines
  • You are proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
