ING Group's Challenger & Growth Markets (C&GM) Business Line serves 27m customers in 10+ countries, and comprises ca. half of ING's assets and profits.

One of the enablers of ING’s Think Forward strategy is operational excellence. Streamlining our expertise, processes and tools will have a massive impact on the quality of client services that we’re able to offer and will greatly improve our customer experience as well as the time-to-market of new solutions. To enable the execution of the Think Forward strategy within C&GM countries, ING has set up a C&GM Chief Transformation Office (CTO). The C&GM CTO coordinates the design and deployment of ING’s global transformation across C&GM countries, and supports the design and execution of C&GM’s local strategies, optimizing C&GM’s change portfolio overall and balancing change roadmaps between functions and countries as required. The department works closely with ING’s Global Transformation Office (GTO), as well as all country executive teams, and representatives from all units and functions. Moreover, the C&GM CTO integrates the Chief Operation Officer (COO) function and as such is responsible for continuous optimization of operational performance across all C&GM operations, and for end-to-end cost efficiency across all C&GM banks. The C&GM CTO coordinates all local COOs and combined 6000+ staff in C&GM countries.

The CTO coordinates all C&GM COOs to achieve:

- Continuous evaluation and optimization of C&GM’s operational performance and capabilities to achieve operational excellence C&GM-wide

- An integrated and optimized operational improvement roadmap within/across countries, leveraging best practice and global knowledge centers

- A powerful Operations brand and community, across C&GM countries

C&GM KYC

Compliance with (international) client transparency regulations, such as but not limited to Financial Economic Crime (FEC), Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), Common Reporting Standards (CRS), Qualified Intermediary) QI is essential for ING to continue offering products to its clients. The Global C&GM KYC (first line function) as part of C&GM’s COO, together with the local expert centers, will play a vital role to ensure compliance with these regulations in an effective and efficient way by, amongst others, concentrating the required knowledge and experience and using one integrated workforce planning and robust tooling. As a Global Sr. Expert KYC you will be based in Amsterdam and report hierarchically and functionally to the Business Line Head KYC within the COO Domain of C&GM. The strong focus will be primarily on the CAM processes, tooling and techniques in the C&GM Countries. Customer Activity Monitoring, as part of FEC, is captured in the KYC operational improvement program.

Job Description

Ensure that level of knowledge on client transparency regulations is at an superior level across Challengers & Growth Markets to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements as well as offering functional advice and day to day support to local 1st Line of Defense KYC Centers in the C&GM Countries.

Your main tasks:

  • You are functionally responsible for the development (jointly with the C&GM Countries and the central KYC/CoE), implementation and proper execution of the Customer Activity Management processes within C&GM
  • You will advise the C&GM countries on improvements in their CAM processes and jointly with the C&GM countries (in co-operation with the central KYC/CoE) develop, plan and implement those improvements
  • Assist and support the global CEO CAM in strenghtening the market vision re CAM based on the developments of the C&GM business line (like external market and regulatory developments and internal client transparency developments)
  • Translate CAM policy into processes, procedures, and process control standards, test plans and monitor that countries incorporate regulatory change in local processes and work instructions
  • Design, maintain and update global process and procedures documents related to CAM (jointly with the central KYC/CoE)
  • Develop training material & provide training (material) on CAM to countries
  • Provide policy input to 2nd Line of Defense on CAM policy & processes as part of ING’s KYC policy
  • Advice and support proactively the KYC teams in the C&GM countries, internal stakeholders and the team on technical issues related to CAM, on an operational, tactical and strategic level. Act as a single point of contact (on CAM) between the Divisional KYC team and the local KYC centers within C&GM and towards the central KYC/CoE.

Required Knowledge & experience:

You have a good track record of working in the KYC area and are able to demonstrate experience and skills in the FEC/CAM field, amongst others regarding Client Acceptance/review processes and Client Activity monitoring. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A university level education with a preferred specialization in Compliance or Legal;
  • Preferably 8 or more years in the financial services industry with a strong knowledge and affinity to KYC;
  • Affinity with data, (advanced) analytics and technology;
  • Fluent in the English language;
  • Preferably experience in establishing CAM compliance policies and procedures in a cross border environment;
  • Have 6 to 10 years relevant work experience in auditing, operational risk management and/or internal control;
  • Have (international) experience in complex organizations and a bird's eye view and knowledge of ING's business processes, risks and associated controls;

Key Developments:

  • Functional reporting lines to/from C&GM Business Units 1st LoD KYC Departments
  • The challenge in this role is to understand the different operational set-ups and processes in C&GM countries and to be able to devise jointly with the country teams effective and efficient standardised governance and reporting mechanisms to facilitate and foster continuous improvement on the internal control environment and support executive decision making at C&GM level.
  • Navigating and influencing the existing organization matrix, the right balance needs to be determined between global strategy and local plans.
