The Global HR COO team is looking for an innovative and enthusiastic student who wants to learn more about HR at ING and is eager to support the redesign of our Tech Development process using the ING Customer Experience methodology - PACE.

The basic facts:

  • A paid internship

  • 32 hours per week (4 days)

  • 6 month duration (start date flexible but preferable 1 April 2021)

As an intern, you will join an ambitious team and support increasing the added value of HR within COO, more specifically Tech. Within ING Tech we are convinced that talent is our greatest asset and achieving our Think Forward ambitions requires us to build a strong engineering culture where we continuously strive to develop and grow our craftsmanship. Spending sufficient time, energy and focus on the development and maturity of our engineering workforce is therefore a key priority.

To support this, a few years ago, we developed the global Performance Days concept, which is a global Tech process that focusses on supporting our engineers to develop and further build their career This process has already been adopted in 8 countries across the globe and we hope to onboard the remaining Tech countries in 2021. ​

To make our process even more successful we will be using PACE, the ING Customer Experience methodology, to refresh and optimize the global process in 2021.

Your working environment

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for setting the bank wide operational and security standards; he drives operational excellence and Information Security effectiveness across the bank. You will work closely with the Global HR COO team consisting of the HR Director COO, HR Business manager COO and HRBPs supporting their own domains. Furthermore you interact with colleagues from HR Communities of Expertise (CoE’s) as well as colleagues from different business lines within COO. A selection of activities:

  • Work with the Global HR Business Partners Tech, Global IT Profiles Lead and PACE coaches to review the full Performance Days process;

  • Participate in research into pain points, and successes as a means to better understand where we can improve;

  • Work with HR Tech Analytics team and include their insights to increase data driven decision making;

  • Assist in the program redesign with the Performance Day team and global senior stakeholders

Your profile

  • You are registered as a student at the University or HBO doing a Organization/ Human Resources or related study

  • You are fluent in English (Dutch is not required)

  • You are structured and diligent

  • You have a drive to work in an international environment

  • You have a continuous improvement- and result oriented mindset

  • You are enthusiastic, eager, hard-working and have a “hands-on” mentality

  • You adhere to the ING values and it is evident that your behaviour fully aligns with these values: The Orange Code

Documents

Two documents are required for your application to be complete:

The Motivation List (max. one A4 page): a list of reasons as to why you fit the job description, why we should hire you, and why you are motivated to be the new intern.

The Curriculum Vitae (CV): Your CV (max. two A4 pages) should include relevant education, work experience, skills, and/or extracurricular activities that will support your Motivation List and overall application.

Selection Process

Once we have received your documents, we will start the first round of selection.

First round of selection

During the first round of selection, the team will select applicants based on their curriculum vitae and letter of motivation. If you have been selected for the interview, you will receive an email with an invitation.

Interview

During the interview you will be asked questions based on your CV and Letter of Motivation. Further questions may be asked based on your answer to the questions regarding these documents. In addition, some general interview questions may be asked.

Outcome of the selection process

After your interview has been concluded, you will receive feedback from the team including the outcome of the selection process.
