WO (Thesis) Internship - Client Solutions Group (Financial Markets) –FX derivatives

The Client Solutions Group* is looking for an intern for its FX derivatives division in Amsterdam. Start dates and internship duration are flexible.

Job description:
The internship will focus on the visualization of the risk and reward relationship for FX derivatives. In collaboration with previous interns we already build some of the earlier analyses and tools in Excel and R. As this is an ongoing project you will have a real opportunity to influence the end result of the project. The internship will focus on two parts:

-Quantitative part; Calculate the Profit & Loss and exposure levels of multiple FX hedging strategies for a client’s FX exposure. To accomplish this a variety of methods can be used, including Backtesting, Scenario analysis, Value at Risk analysis etc. Part of the internship will focus on building and selecting the right methods and implementing these efficiently with the available data. Next to this it could be necessary that you build some simple derivatives pricing tools to help in the above calculations.

-Creative part; with the data obtained from the quantitative part we need to create methods to visualize the results to our clients. The visualisations will then be used in Powerpoint presentations and more advanced (online) tools/dashboards. Besides this you will be able to help with creating new analyses for clients.

The specific outline of the internship will depend on your level of knowledge, availability and interests. If desired the working along part of the internship can be combined with writing a thesis. Some ideas for thesis subjects are provided below, but also feel free to introduce your own.

What we offer:
-Gain experience in the financial markets and understanding of derivatives products
