ING is looking for a Wholesale Business Chapter Lead Payments

In 2018 the new top structure in the WB Agile Delivery Organisation is being introduced and we are looking for a business chapter lead to help us build and grow the new organisation.

Job description

The purpose of the Wholesale Banking (WB) Global Tribe Payments is to make our clients successful by offering them seamlessly integrated payment solutions. The Tribe has a profit & loss responsibility (optimal return for ING and society) for the payment product and services in scope. Main product groups are card services and payments services. The tribe defines and drives the strategy to be a truly leading and innovative Payments bank in Europe. We anticipate an open banking market and we enhance decision making based on data and smart analytics.

We have a global mandate to improve products, pricing, processes, documentation and tooling in a uniform way for our internationally operating clients. We are responsible for delivery of services towards our wholesale clients but also deliver services towards domestic banks and internal stakeholders.

A Chapter is a collection of squad members with the same specific expertise or competence. With the Tribe Lead and other Chapter Leads, you will have an eye on the long term perspective and share a collective responsibility to improve ING’s performance by organising the personal development, expertise and craftsmanship of the team members in your chapter.

It is expected that this will take around 40% of your time. For the remaining 60% of your time, you will work as a squad member towards achieving your squad's purpose and/or working on overarching themes/epics for the payments tribe.

Within the Payments Tribe we have chosen to have chapters that develop the craftsmanship of the customer journey expert in the broadest sense and developing the payments & cards related knowledge. The chapters will be built up with team members with different seniority level and from the different product areas.

As a Chapter Lead:

  • You report to the Tribe Lead
  • You strengthen the ING One Agile Way of Working as a role model while safeguarding the Orange Code.
  • Your primary responsibility is to facilitate, support and motivate your Chapter members.
  • You determine – in consultation with your Tribe Lead and other Chapter Leads - the team structure of your Chapter and its purpose
  • You effectively manage the transition of your Chapter to One Agile Way of Working.
  • You create – together with the agile coaches - high-performing Chapters and remove impediments.
  • You grow the team members capabilities to design a differentiating customer experience by continuous innovations starting from client centricity (incl. beyond banking).
  • You will be responsible for coaching and the Planning/Control/Evaluation cycle (on both a personal and professional level) of the chapter members (10-12 on average) so that they can get the best out of themselves in the areas of product development, processes and channel/distribution.
  • You support the development and craftsmanship of the Chapter team members within your Chapter.
  • Ensure employees feel involved and valued and are prepared to continue their personal development
  • You stimulate cross-border interaction and alignment between people, Tribes, Squads, Chapters, FO organization and Service organization.
  • You create and maintain the new cross-cultural collaboration by creating awareness and understanding, leveraging on diversity and by communicating effectively.
  • Where appropriate, you maintain contacts with stakeholders and external parties
  • You can are expected to represent ING at various industry forums and conferences (or delegate representation) and to meet clients, both to represent ING on their product area as well as collate relevant industry-related trends and information, to be used in the course of carrying out their role.

Your work environment

The Tribe Paymenst is part of the Wholesale Banking Transaction Services organisation. The business chapter lead is in a hierarchical reporting line to the Tribe Lead Payments within Transaction Services.

Your profile

Skills required

Proven track record and technical skills:

  • Master Degree or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years’ experience in relevant positions in which you have proven to be successful in management, people development, change delivery, process improvements or product innovations with a high customer impact.
  • A personality and the capabilities to optimally function within an Agile environment.
  • Experience in guiding and realising change.
  • Experience/affinity with payment products and services is a pre.
  • Previous experience with coaching and developing people is a pre
  • Affinity with IT is a plus.
  • Excellent level of English
