Effective Identity & Access Management ensures fulfillment of regulatory and legal requirements, while empowering users and supporting continuous business innovation. The IAM objective is to build best-in-class Identity and Access Management capabilities by developing and maintaining a sustainable global IAM Target Operating Model (IAM TOM) and by guiding, supporting and challenging the Business Process Owners and the technical services organization with respectively defining their specific IAM model and its technical implementation.

As the Head of IAM you will be based in Amsterdam and report hierarchically and functionally into the Global CISO.

Job description

You will be responsible for successful further develop and implement the globally approved IAM Operating model across the bank such that ING transforms its way of working in this area. The objective is to have a sustainable control environment on Identity & Access Management as well offering state of the art capabilities to enable the Think Forward Strategy (“becoming the next generation digital bank”)

In your role as head IAM you will have leadership over senior consultants, product specialists (experts), project manager and data analytics, which will be based in Amsterdam and Bratislava. In addition, you will have functional steering over Centers of Excellence across ING, who will manage IAM in their domain andl IAM as a Service (IAMaaS), which will offer the IAM global technical solutions and services.

You will be operating in the very heart of the ING Bank COO organisation. The complexity of the assignments and the international setting requires for you to cooperate in and with the international network of ING. No day will be the same!

Your main tasks as Head of GIAM

  • Responsible for designing all functional requirements, processes, (control) standards and supporting guidance of IAM, including making them lean and deregulate;
  • Develop and maintain the IAM Target Operating Model according to security and technology requirements;
  • Define and maintain a global detailed roll out plan and communication plan, and measure progress;
  • Develop training material & provide training (material) to countries as well a curriculum on identity & access management;
  • Handle IAM Model exceptions and potential violations;
  • Investigate IAM-related issues across the bank and provide root-cause-analysis. Initiate actions where required;
  • Working proactively on the issues raised by countries and stakeholders, including regulator, external auditor and CAS to ensure we solve the root cause of issues in a structured way;
  • Maintaining relationships with the various stakeholders inside and outside of the Bank.

Your profile

You have a good track record of working within the IAM field with experience in business role modelling, user access processes, identity and authentication and the IT solutions that are needed to implement this.

You are ambitious in terms of what you want to achieve and you are able to transmit your positive energy to the people you work with. You work transparently and are able to facilitate discussions and alternative solutions. Thanks to your sensitivity and as a good listener, you are capable of achieving cooperation at all levels within the organization. In addition, you recognize yourself in the profile description below.

The ideal candidate will have

  • IT knowledge and capability at academic university-degree level;
  • Greenfield experience (build up business, entrepreneurial spirit);
  • Experience of working in complex environments (sensitive to the internal organization and creating support and acceptance);
  • Work experience within the IAM field and role modelling (5 years);
  • International work experience;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Excellent command of the English language;
  • Ability to provide timely and comprehensive recommendations to mitigate client transparency risks;
  • Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate difficult and unpopular messages;
  • Strong coaching skills are important;
  • Ability to think at strategic, tactical and operational levels;
