Your new challenge!

The Network Operation Center (NOC) squad develops the monitoring tooling for the Global Master Control Room and other involved domains, showing the ING network status and making it possible to act directly in case of disruptions. As Engineers you are responsible for the stability and LCM of this service, analysing problems, developing new functionalities and extending the monitored environments and details.

You are an energetic Ops Engineer with a passion for IT Infrastructure and positive can-do mind-set. You are a team player working as a core member of a multidisciplinary and cross-functional squad with end-to-end responsibility for selected infrastructure services. Close collaboration within and across the squads and with the consumer is of utmost importance for you.

You are responsible for the availability of the service of your squad, you identify and analyse problems and takes the lead in solving incidents, collaborating with your squad’s Dev Engineers. You continuously strive to improve yourself and your colleagues in the DevOps way of working.

You have a broad and diverse set of competencies that allow you to operate, maintain and test the standardized and highly automated infrastructure services of your squad, and that allow you to automate as much of the operating and maintenance work as possible.

What you do (Capabilities)

You maintain consumable infrastructure services to the Infra NL consumers together with your squad and Infra Area. You are able to move all typical user stories and tasks from “To-Do” to “Done”. Especially you focus on:

1. Maintain full infrastructure service to the consumer

a. Maintain consumable standardized infrastructure services (resilient, high quality, highly automated and up-to-date)

b. Automate all repetitive or error-prone operational activities

c. Support and educate consumers on using the standardized infrastructure services (consumer is responsible for their own instances)

d. Implement mandatory security standards

2. Apply continuous delivery practices

a. Manage all resources in version-controlled repositories (incl. code, scripts, configurations, artefacts, static resources)

b. Refactor and reuse existing code/modules/functionality

c. Write fully automated tests (e.g., high availability, load testing, disaster recovery)

d. Build, enhance and maintain tooling and scripts to automate repetitive or error prone tasks, (e.g. to automate configuration management and to ensure consistency)

e. Implement monitoring tooling

3. Apply and improve DevOps way of working

a. Implement user stories from backlog as agreed with the Product Owner

b. Participate rigorously in DevOps rituals (e.g. daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint review, retrospective, peer reviews)

c. Continuously improve yourself, your squad and the service

i. Conduct root cause analysis to identify service improvements

ii. Actively ask for feedback and coaching for improvement

iii. Provide feedback to squad members to avoid waste

d. Collaborate within and across squads to understand your services end-to-end

Your education and background

• Professional and intellectual IT ability at university level - at least Bachelor's degree

• Experience from working in high performing Agile IT teams

• Track record of successfully automating operations of software products

• Certifications and/or proven proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages

• Excellent command of spoken and written Dutch and English
