ING Cards Solutions is recruiting for an experienced and enthusiastic Sales Manager Virtual Cards

ING commercial cards is a fast growing part of the ING Wholesale Banking Transaction Services department offering companies the ability to easily pay and manage expenses.

Within Card Solutions, the Sales department is responsible for the sales of card products simplifying business expenses, in the areas of Travel & Entertainment, Procurement, and e-invoicing.

Our solutions have a proven potential for growth and allow us to generate new business. Our competitors are international banks, credit card providers and fintechs. The market is highly competitive and requires continuous attention on security, process-efficiency and innovation. The department has a strong can-do mentality, is informal and open.

In line with market developments, and client needs, ING has an ambitious growth plan focussing on Purchase Control, our virtual card solution. We are starting a multi-year project to enhance its virtual card product and develop a competitive and attractive go to market strategy.

Virtual cards provide transaction-level control, improved reconciliation and increased security. Combined with simplified compliance and reducing fraud, our clients can greatly benefit from the advantages that virtual cards have to offer.

We wish to add an highly energetic individual to the Cards Solutions Sales team who is very pro-active and client focused, and has extensive experience servicing and advising large companies and driving the virtual card business.

Job Description

You will be responsible for:

  • Generating new business and revenue with existing clients and/or prospects focussing on Purchase control
  • Cross sell other card products to the new clients you sourced, like Corporate Cards
  • Ensure smooth transition of new (card) clients to ING
  • Use expertise, market knowledge, and sales-consultancy to generate ‘mutually beneficial’ contracts for both client and ING
  • Initiate, build and share knowledge with Transaction Services Sales colleagues and Relationship Managers
  • Follow-up on market developments and translate to client needs
  • Negotiate contracts and terms within set mandate structures
  • Oversee implementation of the virtual card products as agreed with client together with the Card implementation team and ensure utilisation ofING products remains high/as agreed with client
  • Client reviews, client visits, account planning
  • Ensure, challenge and improve current processes to increase overall client satisfaction and service levels across countries and products
  • Responsible for business retention and improvement of client profitability
  • Spotting potential leads for the origination/sales organisation

Your work environment

You will become part of the Cards & Network team that service our Corporate Clients, Financial Institutions, REF and SF clients. You will have a dotted line to the Initiative Lead for virtual cards in Product Management.

Cards Solutions has the ambition to be the differentiating factor for clients to choose ING. Given technological developments and increased competition, this requires continuous improvement.

You will support management with the developments of the Purchase control and transformation towards a best in class Card Solutions organisation.

  • Knowledge of and preferablyan existingrelationship with a number of large companies
  • Knowledge of virtual cards and their application in different vertical markets
  • Ownership, client centric, and a pro-active and responsive attitude
  • Analytical skills and result driven
  • Excellent ex- and internal communication skills as demonstrated in prior roles
  • Excellent oral and written skills, in English and preferably Dutch. Other languages are also beneficial
  • Team player
